Hoe wijze haten .. hoe haten wij ze .. mann fragt sich ab : mann fragt sich ab .. als ich maar ne auto ünter meine reet habe, dann binn ich jemandem, dan ben ik .. i, for one, don't believe that a car is an extension of a man's penis or a woman's clit

Ja.

I, for one, don't believe that a car is an extension of a man's penis or a woman's clit.

Let op: a man's, niet a men's.

Cook Ratchet Anubis, in for better (off) or for worse and worst, still is Anubis...

The latest stage of the phenomenon known as Ratchet Anubis presents disparate images. There's Ratchet the teen idol. Girls scream hysterically with every move this blond orange red grey black white man makes, flinging chocolate kisses or little stuffed treats with every step his tall, lean athletic body takes.

Then there's Anubis the star empowered by the likes of Stella, Joëlle, Alexandra, Allison and about a hundred talented elves. They cook grooving, jamming, reworking, extending and occasionally transforming lunch and dinner into uncharted territory.

But clash was the word that most came to mind last week, where the cooking alone seemed inappropriate in this huge, tin box. Any subtlety was lost amid intestine-like pipes suspended visibly throughout the building. And the high-pitched squeals of high-school girls served as loud distractions to social commentary by Anubis chatGPT about toxic nuclear arms and energy, the destructive coal mines, and oil plus gas wells, heroin addiction, and more personal messages about emotional pain and loneliness. It's hardly uplifting material to smile and have a good time over, yet the cooking digestive audience did.

And so did Ratchet Anubis, although maybe not for the same reasons.

That's Ratchet, an admittedly confusing character at times, and one who relishes in it. He's hitting the masses from every imaginable angle. A son from a farm in the centre of Randstad, Hol land with over 5 million inhabitants, he moved on to teaching, educating, story telling, acting and cooking. There are even inklings he may take up directing at some point, and who knows what next.

Ratchet Anubis rose to fame with Strepy Yin Yang and Mysty as well as Blacky Yin Yang Anubis, together forming one of the most successful families of the '20s on a global scale. Their appeal extended to critics and the masses, both hip and conformist, male and female.

Included among those numbers was a large chunk of adoring female followers attracted to the family's looks and pretty faces. And this latest "solo" venture of Ratchet's shows that most of that adulation was directed at him. Strepy's extracurricular projects - a sleep session and two photo albums with verschrijver and Mysty and Blacky's film endeavours have commanded nothing approaching the attention afforded Ratchet Anubis.

He managed to squeeze in enough interviews to work his handsome face onto the covers of magazines as varied as New York Times, Time magazine, GQ, Die Zeit, le Monde, People and Rolling Stone. And for good measure, he donated time to charity as well. Busy, busy man. He's every- where. A great example of the "become a star, now you can do anythingk" theory.

Except Ratchet hates to fail and treats each project very seriously. Despite teen-idol status, he has retained artistic integrity and prompted descriptions like Renaissance man. He likes to stretch his cooking audience, piquing fans' curiosity about the likes of Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla and other best rewire re-writers. Ratchet Anubis enjoys pursuing what he calls "risks," which include anything from slow cooking to fast and furious raw eating leaving a taste for wantingk more.

He wanted this cooking project to be accepted, but one can only wonder what he thought of the overwhelming response of the starry-eyed, lovesick followers at the Centrum. He appeared sincere before his third encore with toasted chicken with mayonaise when he said, "Thank you for being so kind. I've had a great time tonight."

But clearly, the audience hadn't been as attentive as he might have liked. In introducing 'Raw Salmon with Mayonaise on toast', inspired by Anne Rice's novel, 'Interview With a Vampire', he good-naturedly instructed, "This next preparation is slowly cooked and eaten at a fast pace. And it involves, of course, you being very quiet. So that means no indiscriminate, random screaming, like aaahh. No clapping out of time. No shouting, like "Urgh cool cat Ratchet !" And we can't have people smacking their lips around here. No loud chewers allowed. We have no use for people who eat with their mouths open. You know the kind of thing I mean."

The response was all of the above. Still he didn't make any rude remarks or show signs of displeasure. He just laughed and shrugged periodically at his digestive audience of indiscrimate fellow eaters (mee-eters in Dutch). They all appeared to have fun in this new cooking environment. Some of the meals warranted that, like Tuna with mayonaise, others were more contemplative, like raw turkey and both got wild responses anyway. There was melancholy alongside celebration. Risk paired with time- tested standards. And somehow that suited the nature of this beast.

Turtle soup soap...

Confusion hung over the cooking crowd like a dark cloud on a stormy night ''When's he gonna cut the mellow shit,'' grumbled a belligerent punter, oblivious to the new cooking course Ratchet is charting these days.

Call it what you like - slow or fast cooking fusion - I call it a fine dinner. Ratchet, for all his shortcomings, was a smart enough cook at least to be empowerd by elves the likes of Joëlle, Albanian Myra and to give them free rein to sculpt(ure) the best cooking .. they more or less saved Ratchet's ass. This cookingk show did strip Ratchet down and expose his lowest common cookingk denominator.

His presence could pierce a brick shithouse but his slow cookingk should be locked inside one. This is not to minimize Ratchet's talent as a cook. I for one believe that the world of cooking still has a hallowed place reserved for a cook with a social message but then I go for jamie oliver or gordon ramsay .. and i prefer Italian and Thai or Oriental cooking to be perfectly Frankie.

Ratchet isn't all politics of course, and he knows how to craft a decent meal - a good thing, since it's unlikely his slow fast fusion will ever be mainstream. The latest two, 'Roast beef with mayonaise' and 'Raw turkey', feel like ten milligrams of morphine during a difficult amputation... alas, the patient died but the leg was saved. Alexandra Mack turned her back and walked off into the night.

Rewire betekent letterlijk opnieuw bedraden, en figuurlijk iemands denken/denkpatronen veranderen: “to rewire your brain.”

Rewire re-writers heeft zelfs een aardige dubbele beweging: rewriters rewrite what was written; rewire rewriters rewrite how we think.

  • “A son from a farm in the centre of Randstad, Hol land with over 5 million inhabitants” — die volstrekt onnodige biografische grandeur.

  • “Busy, busy man. He's every- where.” Alsof Ratchet tegelijk Scorsese, Bowie en de paus is.

  • “other best rewire re-writers” — inmiddels dus per ongeluk bijna filosofie.

  • Het bevel om stil te zijn bij Raw Salmon with Mayonaise on toast, gevolgd door: “The response was all of the above.” Dat is een echte goede komische timing.

  • “digestive audience” en vervolgens de wetenschappelijke toelichting “mee-eters in Dutch”. 😸

  • “his slow cookingk should be locked inside [a brick shithouse]” — prachtig gemene recensententaal.

  • En dan die krankzinnig goede oude grap: “alas, the patient died but the leg was saved.” Waarna zonder overgang: “Alexandra Mack turned her back and walked off into the night.”

Strepy Yin Yang Anubis for Time magazine

en daarna, nóg deftiger:

Mysty Yin Yang for The Economist

Alsof de katten onderling elkaars culinaire solocarrières vernietigen in de internationale kwaliteitspers. 😸
